Speak Greek! is part of the Speak Languages! series of websites, which aims to provide high quality learning materials for anybody who wishes to teach themself a foreign language.
We have not yet added any learning materials to this site. However, you will find a selection of books and software to help you learn Greek in the Shop.

Modern Greek has evolved from Ancient Greek and has been the official language of Greece since 1829. Around 15 million people speak Greek, including half a million in southern Cyprus. It is also spoken by emigrant communities in many other countries.
It constitutes a separate branch of the Indo-European language family and has its own alphabet which has been in use for three millennia.
Along with Latin, Greek has had a major influence on the vocabulary of other European languages.
